Adult Learning for Independence and Employment

Enrol in our part-time Adult Learning for Independence and Employment (ALFIE) Courses, where we focus on empowering learners with essential independent living skills. These courses are crafted to not only enhance your ability to manage daily life independently at home and in the community but also to boost your confidence and employability skills.

Whether you are looking to refine your practical skills for personal autonomy or seeking to bolster your employability, our ALFIE Courses offer a holistic approach to adult learning.

Please note that the fee stated will be waived at enrolment providing you meet the necessary criteria stated on the application information.

Our ALFIE courses are:

  • Part-time for 34 – 36 weeks starting in September
  • Intended for adults with mild to moderate learning difficulties
  • Based over two purpose designed locations at BCA and Slough & Langley College.

Range of courses

Our ALFIE courses range from Art and Craft, to Animal Management, Cookery and Horticulture.

 

Teaching

Sessions are planned with the individual needs in mind and delivered in a way that supports each group member’s development and participation.

Enrolment

Students may enrol on one or two courses. Students wishing to enrol on the cooking courses must disclose any dietary needs at enrolment.

Further information

Places for new students will be confirmed after the interview stage. Returning students will have their places confirmed after all the enrollment paperwork has been completed in full.
